America’s current state is not what it once was in the 1980’s. Moreover, we are very politically divided, people disrespect the men and women who serve our country, and there are riots all over too. However, as a country we have grown leaps and bounds in a positive direction. For example, we are still afforded more rights than any country in the world, we are given equal opportunity, and our military is stronger than ever before. Therefore, not all hope is lost for this country.
It is just a fact that we live in the greatest country on God’s green earth. One of the main reasons which makes this country so great is the rights that we, as Americans are born with. Anyone in this country is able to do what they want. If one so chooses to go on Facebook they can do so. If someone, wants to go get food, they have a multitude of options. If you feel the need to protect yourself, you are even given the right to do so by bearing arms. As well, here in America we can say what we want, that is why people are allowed to protest, or say things on the media that not everyone agrees with. In addition to that, in this country we are allowed to vote who we want in office. In other countries there are dictators who are automatically elected, and the people do not get a say. Even in countries that give some basic rights, people still are under the will of a strict government, and those governments are not any better than the tyrannical governments.
In addition to the rights we are granted in this country, we are also given equal opportunity. A great man named Martin Luther King Jr. once dreamt that America would become more equal. Throughout the years, more people of color began getting into college and getting better jobs than ever before. As well, we are offered the same rights, unlike in the mid to late 1900’s where there were protests just to have the same basic rights. Besides people with color gaining equal opportunity, so are women. More than in the prior years, women are becoming high level executives, bread winners, and entering into the military. Contrastly, in other countries, women have little to no rights, they are treated inferior to men. Even God says that women were made to be equal to men.
I have nothing but the upmost respect for the men and women who serve this country. My respect comes from my Grandfather who is a retired Lieutenant Colonel in the army, and my Uncle who is an active Eagle Colonel in the army. Having the realization of having my uncle being deployed to the middle east several years ago opened my eyes to how important their work is and how dangerous it is too. Moreover, America’s current military is stronger than it ever was before. The technology in the military compared to how it once was is amazing. To think that at one point in our history, our military was nothing more than poorly equipped soldiers lead by George Washington. To winning the arms race against the Soviet. Now, our technology is the best in the world. Not to mention, we have strong willed individuals serving this country, because of their love for it.
Although this country is not where it once was. We have made tremendous progress, and are still improving as a whole. We have more rights than any other country in the world. We have a country striving for equality between all people. As well, America also has the strongest military from all of the corners of the earth. That is my hope for America.
