It Was An Accident

It was the perfect year. The two best friends gathered together after their graduation, they had one heck of a ride. Both had been inducted into National Honors society, and graduated at the top of their class. One was accepted into Duke, Jared. The other would be right across the street because he was going to be across the street from him at UNC, Levan. They both had it made because they had received scholarships and grants that virtually covered almost all of the cost! As they were enjoying their fat cigars after the ceremony, they were trying to figure out what they were going to do that very night. Jared’s father had gotten him a brand new convertible BMW for getting a full ride to Duke. They decided they would try to cruise around town and pick up some ladies.
Before Jared left, his father said to be careful and told him three things before he left the house: Be back by 11 pm(nothing good happens at midnight), do not drink and drive, and do not do anything that could damage his bright future.
“Levan hurry up man it is going to get dark soon”
“I’m coming dude chill”
Both Levan and Jared were wearing their yacht club outfits to try and impress the ladies that night: gold watches, sperrys, and sweaters. As they entered into Raleigh the nightlife was roaring. There were flashing lights and loud music, it seemed like Hollywood. Almost immediately, they saw two gorgeous girls walking down the street.
“Levan hit them up because you were late bro”
“Fine, where are you guys going”
“Hey, we are going to a party you want to take us?”
“For sure! Let’s go”
As they continued to the party, they arrived at an isolated house in the middle of the woods, but with 6,000 square feet, the ideal party house. As they got out they were immediately offered drinks.
“No thanks” said Jared
“C’mon bro one drink won’t hurt you”
Jared had that drink, the last one he could remember.
“JAAAArrred let’s go to another party dude this one's getting beat” said Levan
“Ight bro you right”
At this point it was 1:43 in the morning and Jared’s phone had 32 missed calls from his father.
“Crap dude we nnedd to gget home now!!”
“Your right we are gonna be in sooo much trouble if we don’t get back soon.”
As they got in the car they began to race home going 90 mph on the back roads. All of the sudden a massive doe ran right in front of them, Jared turned the car right into a North Carolina pine tree. He looked over and saw Levan bleeding out, a branch was sticking through his head almost holding him upright.
When the cops arrived Jared blew a .23 and was arrested for a DUI. Once he was released on bail, Duke called him kicking him out of school, not from the DUI (because they did not know) but from pictures of him all over social media, he was holding a wine bottle and writing all over him in sharpie. His life was over.
